Batavia Historical Society lights up Riverwalk with new fundraiser

Wed October 18, 2017

BATAVIA, IL – The Batavia Historical Society is adding a fun, new activity to the schedule of events at the popular Celebration of Lights Festival on November 26.

The public can help make the Depot Museum a little brighter this holiday season by purchasing a bulb as part of the ‘Light Up the Caboose’ fundraising campaign, that benefits the Depot Museum Expansion Project. Bulbs are $10 each or three for $25. With each gift, a paper bulb with the donor’s name or name of your choice will be hung inside the Depot Museum between now and November 26.

At 6 pm, during the Celebration of Lights Festival, the Depot’s historic Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Caboose will be ceremonially lit by Polly Ernzen, daughter of Theodore (Ted) Schuster who was an employee of the C. B. Q. railroad and community member that was an integral part of securing the caboose in 1975.

Donate and help us see how bright we can make it! If you are interested in sponsoring a bulb, stop by the Depot Museum Gift Shop (Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 pm) or visit bataviahistoricalsociety.org. The lights will be enjoyed for the entire holiday season.
