Batavia Park District A Winner of the Chicago 2017 Top Workplaces Award

Fri November 10, 2017

Chicago, IL – The Batavia Park District has been awarded a 2017 Top Workplaces honor by The Chicago Tribune. The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Energage, LLC (formerly Workplace Dynamics), a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection, just to name a few.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits,” says Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day—the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together. Claffey adds, “Without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace.”

On November 10, the Batavia Park District was recognized as one of the area’s most dynamic and supportive local businesses by the Chicago Tribune in its special “Top Workplaces 2017” issue. The Friday, November 10 special edition of the newspaper identified the Chicago companies chosen for recognition by its employees. All winners were honored during the Top Workplaces 2017 event, held at Soldier Field’s exclusive United Club on Thursday, November 9.

A total of 125 businesses receive this recognition, spread across three categories: small, mid-size, and large. This is the second year in a row that the Batavia Park District has received this honor and Batavia was named #12 out of 55 recognized businesses in the small business category.

“We are proud to be recognized as one of the Chicago Tribune's Top Workplaces for the second consecutive year. This award is a clear reflection of the talent of our people and the extent to which they collaborate in order to provide a high level of value to our constituents. Being a local governmental entity, this is not an easy feat. Our efforts at recognizing the importance of achieving a positive work/life balance and the establishment of a strong internal culture provide the cornerstone for maintaining a creative and energetic workplace environment. Batavia Park District's success as a Top Workplace is a direct result of a satisfied and engaged workforce. I want to thank and congratulate all of our employees - full -time, part-time and seasonal for helping the Batavia Park District achieve this important recognition two years in a row,” stated Executive Director, Allison Niemela.
