Wed May 13, 2020

Batavia, IL- During COVID-19, the Batavia Park District staff are working hard to ensure ‘Your fun is our business!’ during these difficult times. The safety and health of staff and patrons is of the utmost importance and a determining factor for the future of many events. The Park District is committed to offering safe, positive experiences, whether virtual or in-person, in the coming weeks and months to support Batavians’ mental and physical health.

With current restrictions on mass gatherings and the announcement of Governor Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan, the Park District is announcing the cancellation of the following events:

  • The 2020 River Rhapsody Concert Series on Wednesday evenings will not take place this year.
  • Windmill City Festival is canceled this summer.

Park District staff continue to work on plans to modify other favorite summer events and programs to comply with social distancing guidelines. Some highlights include:

  • Summer Outdoor Movies will move to a drive-in experience to allow for social distancing.
  • Batavia Senior Citizens Club meetings will meet virtually on the third Wednesday of each month.
  • The Batavia Virtual Recreation Center, found at, continues to offer free virtual programming, including Kids’ Corner activities, Fitness and Yoga class, and Active Adult socializing programming.
  • Various Youth Variety programs that were originally in-person are moving to an online, interactive format.
  • All Star Sports classes are offered online, in the comfort of your own home or backyard.

While this summer is going to be different, the Batavia Park District is here for your recreation needs. We will continue to work hard to keep the parks and trails clean, modify summer events and programming where possible, and provide memorable experiences for your family this summer!
