Museum Programs and Events

It's fun and easy to attend Batavia Depot Museum programs! If a program is labeled drop-in there's no need to register in advance; simply drop-in and enjoy. For ticketed events, purchase tickets below.

Gather & Remember Free Drop-in Programs

Programs offered at the Callahan Community Center. Each month will offer a special topic for community members to drop by and tell their stories. This program runs monthly. Registration is encouraged but drop-ins are welcome.

History Programs

Every month a special guest speaker or activity is offered related to the current exhibit on display. Preregistered is required and there is a fee. All ages welcome.

Preservation Week

This event happens annually the last week of April into the first week of May.

Preservation Week inspires action to preserve personal, family, and community collections in addition to library, museum, and archive collections. It also raises awareness of the role libraries and other cultural institutions play in providing ongoing preservation education and information.

Batavia History Trolley

Take a ride on the Park District’s historic open-air trolley for a guided tour of Batavia’s history. Tours last 45-60 minutes depending on traffic.

Private Trolley Tours

Want to celebrate a special occasion this year? Private tours are available April to October depending on staff availability, and are the perfect way to experience Batavia with family and friends. Call Batavia Depot Museum staff at 630-406-5274 to schedule your private trolley tour, with the personal touch! Private trolley tours can take up to 12 participants and last 45-60 minutes depending on traffic and weather. School Tours

Did you know the Museum’s “Little Town in a Big Woods,” permanent exhibit is based on the Batavia Public School District’s 3rd grade social studies reader by the same name? Bring your class to the Batavia Depot Museum and be immersed in local history! Museum staff offer education programs for school groups both at the Museum and in the classroom. Local history field trips or classroom visits are available for any age group Mondays-Fridays.

April - May

In the Spring a new exhibit opens, trolley tours, programming are offered.

Summer

June - August

In the Spring the new exhibit continues through the end of summer. The Fall exhibit opens in August and the Museum is open during Windmill City Festival.

Fall

September - December

In early Fall a new exhibit opens, but closes in December. Trolley tours and spooky programming are offered.

Winter

January - March

A mini holiday exhibit is offered during December before the museum closes for the season. Programming options will be offered at the Callahan Community Center.
