They assist with event set-up and decoration, help operate activity and game stations, and provide on-site support during festivals, concerts, and seasonal celebrations. Volunteers often serve as friendly points of contact by greeting attendees, distributing materials or information, and assisting with children’s activities. Does This Sound Like You?

You're passionate about your community, love helping others, and enjoy being part of something meaningful. Whether you're looking to give back, gain experience, or just have fun while meeting new people, volunteering with the Batavia Park District might be the perfect fit.

Did You Know?

Established in 1833, Batavia is the oldest city in Kane County, Illinois. Originally called Big Woods, the area earned its name from the vast, dense forests that once thrived there. These woodlands provided early settlers with a plentiful supply of timber and natural resources, making it an ideal location for settlement.

In 1840, Judge Isaac Wilson, one of the town’s early influential residents, renamed it Batavia after his former hometown in Batavia, New York. This change marked the beginning of Batavia’s transformation from a small frontier settlement into a thriving community.

“Volunteering with the Batavia Park District has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. I’ve met so many incredible people, made new friends, and had the chance to give back to a community that means so much to me.”

“Volunteering with the Park District has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s a great way to meet new people, give back to the community, and feel connected to something bigger than yourself. As a volunteer soccer coach, I’ve especially valued the opportunity to spend meaningful time with my son—sharing the field, learning together, and creating memories I know we’ll both carry with us for years to come.”

- John S., Volunteer Coach
