Congratulations, Batavia Park District Executive Director Allison Niemela!
At the June 16 Batavia Park Board meeting, State Representative Matt Hanson presented Allison with a copy of House Resolution 594, officially recognizing July 11 as Unplug Illinois Day.
Allison was honored for her leadership in co-creating the Unplug Illinois campaign, an Illinois Park and Recreation Association strategic master plan initiative that has grown into a statewide celebration encouraging people to “plug into” the many opportunities available through local park and recreation agencies.
"Unplug Illinois was built on a simple idea, that some of life's best moments aren't found on a screen,” she said. "It's rewarding to see a campaign that began as an idea grow into a statewide movement recognized by the Illinois General Assembly."
Thank you, Allison, for your vision, leadership, and dedication to creating meaningful connections and experiences for our community!
