All Aboard!
A group of J.B. Nelson Elementary School students rode to school in style today in our park district trolley. This special ride was offered via a park district prize for a unique ride to school with friends. If you'd like to ride the trolley, tours are available this summer through the Batavia Depot Museum. Did you learn to swim at Hall Quarry Beach? Your children can share in that unique Batavia experience with summer swim lessons at the Quarry. Lessons are available for infants and toddlers, preschoolers and older kids. They learn to feel comfortable in the water, learn about water safety and work on building their stroke and kicking skills as they progress.

Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at an Amazon fulfillment center? 📦 See the process at our guided walking tour of the Amazon robotics-sortable facility in Monee, Illinois, where thousands of packages are shipped every day. See robotics technology in action and explore this massive high-tech operation up close.
After the tour, we’ll head to Miller’s Ale House in Aurora for lunch. Transportation and tour admission are included in the trip fee; lunch is on your own.

CALL FOR ARTISTS | Digital Mural Design Proposal
The Batavia Park District is seeking proposals from qualified artists or artist teams for an exciting public art opportunity: the creation of a digital mural design for the Batavia Pedestrian Ramp project.
Titled “Peace Out Batavia!”, this large-scale mural will become a vibrant visual landmark adjacent to the “Peace on Earth” pedestrian bridge and Peace Plaza in downtown Batavia, IL. The design will help transform a highly visible gateway along the Fox River Bike Trail into a welcoming, community-driven art experience for residents and visitors alike.
Project Overview
- Digital mural design services only (no materials or installation required)
- Final design will be translated into a paint-by-number format across 53 individual panels
- Painting will be completed through a community engagement initiative running late June through August 2026
- Location: U-shaped pedestrian and bicycle ramp connecting the Fox River Bike Trail to downtown Batavia
