Our offerings include trees, benches, and pet tributes and create peaceful, lasting reminders in the parks that shape our community. Creating a tribute is simple. Memorial Trees
Plant a Tree. Grow a Memory. Memorial Trees offer a meaningful way to celebrate life with a living tribute. Each tree becomes part of our park landscape and is enjoyed by generations to come. Plantings take place in spring and fall each year.

Cost: $800 per tree
Includes:
- Selected tree species
- Custom stone marker (up to 4 lines of text, 24 characters per line)
- Professional planting and installation
Note: Tree placement is determined by Park District staff based on site availability.
Note: Tree location preferences will be considered, but not guaranteed.
Tree Memorial Program
Choose your tree
- Kentucky Coffee Tree – A hardy native shade tree with interesting bark and open branching. Male cultivars produce no seed pods, making them ideal for public areas.
- Red Sunset Maple– Brilliant fall color and strong branch structure make this tree a standout in every season.
- Swamp White Oak – A beautiful, native oak known for its adaptability and longevity. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions.
- Northern Red Oak– Fast-growing and majestic with stunning red autumn foliage. A favorite for shade and seasonal beauty.
- American Linden – Fragrant blooms and heart-shaped leaves make this tree a charming addition to any park space.
- Flowering Crabapple – Delightful spring blossoms attract pollinators and brighten landscapes with colorful charm.
- Magnolia Tree – Known for its large, fragrant blossoms and bold appearance, the magnolia offers an elegant tribute.
Tree Warranty
- Memorial trees are covered under a three-year warranty.
- Trees will be maintained or replaced within this period as needed.
- If a tree fails after the warranty period, donors may purchase a replacement.
- Plaques remain in place as long as the tree remains in good health.
Memorial Benches
A Place to Pause. A Seat for Reflection. Memorial Benches not only honor loved ones—they provide a place for others to sit, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Installation Season: Fall only
Plaque Text: Up to 4 lines, 24 characters per line
Cost Options:
- 4-foot bench: $2,550
- 6-foot bench: $3,000
Includes the bench, custom plaque, and professional installation.
Note: Bench location preferences will be considered, but not guaranteed.
Bench warranty
- Benches are maintained under a 15-year replacement life cycle.
- The plaque will be preserved by the District for the life of the bench.
Pet memorials at the Bark Park
Tributes for Our Four-Legged Friends. Celebrate the memory of a cherished pet with a personalized tribute in our Bark Park.
Options include:
- Custom Bricks – Starting at $200
- Memorial Benches – Starting at $2,550
- Agility Equipment Tributes – Prices vary by item
All items are placed in the Bark Park as permanent reminders of the bond we share with our pets.
