celebration of lights festival

Sunday, November 28, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Batavia Riverwalk

Experience the Magic of Batavia with the Celebration of Lights Festival! We will have hayrides, holiday craft activities, old-fashioned ornament-making, a community sing-a-long, ceremonial tree lighting, a visit with Santa, story hour and the ever-popular Christmas Tree Lane! The festival is presented by the Batavia Park District in partnership with Batavia MainStreet, the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, the City of Batavia, and the Batavia Police Department. This event is free!

Schedule

5-7 p.m.

o Free wagon rides with food or $1 cash donation (proceeds directly benefit the Batavia Food Pantry)

o Free treat

o Family photo opportunity at the Peg Bond Center's main stage

o Hot chocolate for sale

o Holiday craft activities inside City Council Chambers

o The Batavia Community Band performs

o Christmas Tree Lane - Featuring 25 holiday trees decorated by local organizations and businesses

o Stop by the Batavia Depot Museum to warm up & visit our historic treasures, including the original "Skaters on the Pond" painting by John Falter

o Community sing-a-long led by Craig Foltos, of Foltos Tonsorial Parlor

5:30 p.m.

o Arrival of Santa

o Welcome by Mayor Schielke & Ceremonial Tree Lighting

5:45 p.m.

o Santa's Warming House: Visit Santa at the Peg Bond Center warming house and receive a treat from Kris Kringle himself (for children younger than 10, while supplies last)

o Announcement of Christmas Tree Lane winners

o Check in with the Batavia Public Library staff at the Gustafson Center, located in the lower level of the Batavia Depot Museum, to pick up a goodie bag and flashlight to enjoy the outdoor, socially distant Story Stroll.



Batavia Holiday Lights Trolley

Friday, December 10, 5:30-6:30 pm and 6:45-7:45 p.m.
Batavia Depot Museum, 155 Houston St.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Trade sleigh bells for the trolley bell this year with a one-night-only, pop-up adventure on the Park District's trolley through Mooseheart's Holiday Lights drive. Bring your letters for Santa and a few snuggly blankets to enjoy this magical open-air trolley tour. This tour is open for all ages, and is sure to fill up fast.
*Please note that in case of inclement weather, the trolley tour will be canceled.



breakfast with santa

Saturday, December 11, 8:30 am - 11:00 am, Shannon Hall

Ho! Ho! Ho! Here comes Santa Claus! He will come to share a light breakfast with you! Families will be able to see Santa and take a picture with him and Mrs. Claus. Santa will talk to each boy and girl, then hand them a present. The light breakfast will include doughnuts, fruit, and yogurt, coffee, juice and milk. You may take home your picture with Santa and a fun craft that will be waiting for you at a table. Ages 2 and older must register.

Show off your holiday spirit and enter Batavia's Online Holiday House Decorating Contest. We will award prizes in four categories:
o Most Original
o Best Theme
o Best Use of Lights
o People's Choice
All displays will be judged through online voting via our Facebook page on Wednesday, December 15. Winners will receive a Batavia Park District prize package. This contest is for Batavia Park District residents only. Addresses of all entries will be published in local media unless otherwise specified at the time of registration. Photos must be submitted by 4:00 pm on Monday, December 13. Please submit all photos to bethanneg@bataviaparks.org! Winners will be announced on Friday, December 17.
