Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan
The Batavia Park District comes under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for State and Local Governments. The Batavia Park District has the responsibility to provide equal and integrated access to its services, facilities, programs and activities for its residents and visitors with disabilities. To provide access, the Batavia Park District must make reasonable modifications to policies and procedures as well as physical changes to the built environment.
Under Title II of the ADA, the regulations prohibit public entities such as the Batavia Park District from discriminating against or excluding a person from programs, services or activities on the basis of disability. Batavia Park District is responsible to meet the obligations of Title II of the ADA and assign a person as the ADA Coordinator. The ADA Coordinator is responsible to receive, review, and respond to questions and concerns expressed by a person with a disability related to access of the parks and programs. In addition, this person would be responsible to implement removal of access barriers recognized in the Transition Plan.
Annual Report
An annual report for a park district is a way to share the story of the past year with the community. It highlights the district’s programs, events, and accomplishments, while also showing how tax dollars and resources were used to care for parks, facilities, and recreation programs. Inside, you’ll find the district’s mission and values, a look back at memorable moments and improvements, updates on new parks and facility upgrades, recognition of volunteers and community partners, a summary of finances, and a preview of future projects and goals.

Comprehensive Master Plan - 2021-2025+
2021 Comprehensive Master Plan contains a detailed summary of the action items provided in a year-by-year list in chronological order from 2020 – 2025+. Comprehensive Master Plan strategies were refined by park district staff and the Board of Commissioners to develop the action plan. The action plan is to act as a guide to assist the Batavia Park District with implementing the strategies over the next five years and will be periodically reevaluated and adjusted to reflect completed projects and the community’s changing needs.
Fox River Corridor Master Plan
In 2020, the Batavia Park District and the City of Batavia entered into an inter-governmental agreement to prepare a master plan for the Fox River Corridor. Hitchcock Design Group was engaged to prepare the plan for the purpose of evaluating options for removal of the Batavia Dam, recreational improvements, and connectivity and access along the river.
Throughout the planning process, the Planning Team facilitated community engagement meetings and surveys, conducted review meetings with Park District and City staff, and directed joint meetings with the Park Board and City Council. The preliminary design process focused on the dam and Depot Pond area. The Batavia Park District and City of Batavia worked to form a design identity for this area before proceeding with planning the remainder of the river corridor limits. The Batavia Fox River Corridor Master Plan summarizes the team’s findings and recommendations.
